Lesser Known Facts About Shirley Garrett!!

•  Selected as Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year for high school graduating class
•  Can drive and operate a dump truck
•  Won a national poker tournament in Reno, NV
•  Able to turn cartwheels and stand on her head
•  Operates a tractor, tedder, and hay rake
•  Jet skis whenever possible
•  Can whistle through a blade of grass
•  Is a Princess of Paducah and a Kentucky Colonel
•  High school honor student (Father was Principal, mother was Guidance Counselor...what do you expect?)
•  Spent part of childhood in an orphanage
•  Remodeled a 100 year old farm house with cousin Martha Jean
•  Alabama State Collegiate Badminton Champion in three different divisions
•  Backpacked for 7 days in Montana on the Lewis and Clark trail
•  Believes in random acts of kindness
•  Chosen as favorite Aunt by most of her nieces and nephews
•  Recycles almost everything
•  Can skip a flat rock 3 times on the lake
•  High school and college cheerleader (after many attempts)
•  Loves to read
•  Can do magic tricks
•  Makes bed almost every day
•  Considers her friends her most valuable assets
•  Rides bicycle with no hands when opportunity permits -- and Randy’s not watching
•  Studies the philosophical principles of Aikido
•  Can hang and finish sheet rock, hang wall paper, and fix plumbing
•  Had lead female role in senior class play, "Our Town"
•  Loves to dance
•  Is a grandmother
•  Snow skied a double black diamond run
•  Has an artificial ligament in knee (see above -- there is a connection!)
•  Has unforgettable birthday parties
•  Ran a yard clean up service one summer (drank R.C.'s and ate Moon Pies)
•  Took two camping trips cross country with good friends
•  Slalom water skis (on a good day)
•  Saved enough "Blue Horses" to get a bicycle, chemistry set, and Jon Nagy Learn to Draw
•  Has never completed a crossword puzzle in pen or pencil
•  Loves being married to Randy and keep his life interesting
•  Walked 60 miles in the Avon Breast Cancer 3 Day – 2 years in a row
•  Donates blood platelets on a regular basis
•  Volunteered at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta
