Facilitation of Meetings and Strategic Planning

Dr. Shirley Garrett draws on her expertise and analytical skills to help groups tackle and begin solving tough issues. She uses thought-provoking questions to identify the sometimes hard to name concerns. She listens to discussions while remaining sensitive to the importance of full participation. Using a non-threatening approach, Shirley is able to draw people into the process to ensure 100 percent involvement.

Purpose: To support and guide organizations as they create workable plans to reach their goals and find solutions to their problems. The process is geared toward helping attendees polish their skills to:
1) Become viable leaders and team players
2) Develop unique strategies required to work with teams, boards, and committees
3) Understand how their own core values and behavior styles impact their performance
4) Commit to getting the job done once it is defined

Objectives: Participants will:
• Identify their personal interests, attitudes and values and understand how these influence their decisions. (Inventory is an additional fee)
• Learn techniques to facilitate the dynamics of a meeting
• Develop a working knowledge of Hoshin Kanri planning (see attached)
• Improve understanding of communication techniques
• Utilize an effective conflict resolution model
• See the difference in point of view and viewing point
• Improve their opportunities for reaching consensus
• Appreciate the history and politics of the organization while using those to springboard new ideas
• Understand the purpose of leadership within the organization
• Build better teams through improved communication

Logistics:
Many organizations understand the need to get away and focus on their plans for the future for an extended period of time. Shirley can help you decide how much time is necessary for this retreat type environment and suggest venues that meet the needs of your group and that fits within your budget.

Format:
The format is fast-paced with plenty of time for discussion and debriefing. The atmosphere is designed to be non-threatening and to insure that participation is 100%.

Follow-Up and Reinforcement:
Shirley Garrett will be available to each participant for follow-up conversation via e-mail and phone consultations. She will also provide monthly e-mail tips to participants that reinforce the learning. Worksheets and recommended reading lists will be distributed during the program.
